Day 1: Arrival in Lima and overnight stay in Miraflores or Barranco, two safe and charming neighborhoods. In the afternoon, stroll along the seafront overlooking the Pacific Ocean, ideal for relaxing after the trip. Dinner at a renowned ceviche restaurant to begin your exploration of Peruvian cuisine.
Day 2: City tour of Lima's Historic Center, including the Plaza Mayor and colonial buildings. Then, visit Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca archaeological site in the heart of the city. In the afternoon, stroll through Miraflores and dinner at one of its excellent restaurants. A relaxing day to acclimatize and continue exploring Peruvian cuisine.
Day 3: Fly to Puerto Maldonado and transfer by boat to the lodge in the Tambopata Reserve. At sunset, take a boat ride to watch caimans.
Day 4: Jungle hike, canopy walk, and excursion to Lake Sandoval to observe giant otters, birds, and monkeys.
Day 5: Visit to Tres Chimbadas Lake, ethnobotanical tour, and at night, night walk to see the jungle fauna.
Day 6: Morning flight to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. Transfer to your hotel and free afternoon to rest and adjust to the altitude. A leisurely stroll through the historic center, such as the Plaza de Armas or the San Blas neighborhood, is recommended.
Day 7: Full-day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the Pisac market and ruins, the impressive Moray agricultural terraces, the Maras salt mines, and the Ollantaytambo archaeological complex. Includes lunch at a local restaurant featuring Andean products.
Day 8: Start of the Quarries Inca Trail (a two-day trek with camping option), with Andean landscapes and rarely visited archaeological sites. Alternatively, travel by train to Aguas Calientes, a base town for visiting Machu Picchu.
Day 9: Continue trekking to the end point with panoramic views of the Sacred Valley. Those who took the train can explore Aguas Calientes or visit the hot springs. Overnight at a camp (trek) or hotel (train).
Day 10: Early entry to Machu Picchu, one of the Wonders of the World. Guided tour of the Inca citadel and free time to explore. Then, return by train and transportation to Cusco.
Day 11: Optional day in Cusco. For the more active, hike Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), a challenging hike with spectacular views. Alternatively, spend a more leisurely day exploring other nearby ruins such as Sacsayhuamán, Q'enqo, or Tambomachay.
Day 12: Transfer to Puno: by tourist bus with stops at points of interest in the highlands, or by flight to Juliaca followed by transfer to the city. In the afternoon, free time to explore Puno or enjoy the views of Lake Titicaca.
Day 13: Boat trip on Lake Titicaca, beginning with a visit to the floating islands of the Uros people, built from totora reeds. Then, sail to Amantani Island (or Taquile, depending on the option chosen). You will spend the night in a local community, spending time with local families and learning about their traditions.
Day 14: Return flight to Lima. Free time for some last-minute shopping and a final stroll through Barranco, one of the city's most picturesque and artistic neighborhoods. In the evening, farewell dinner at a restaurant with a great view or local atmosphere is the perfect way to end your trip on a high note.
